Where to begin with Laura + Jason – I photographed this beautiful duo last October after meeting them at my very first bridal show through Barrie Wedding Deals at the Kempenfelt Centre. They’d casually stopped by my booth and within minutes of speaking to them I knew immediately that I wanted to photograph their wedding, before they’d even shown any interest in my portfolio! Their vibe and love for each other was one of soul mates and so contagious; I’m thankful all of my finger crossing worked because they hired me on the spot!! Working with Laura and Jason was truly such a pleasure professionally but being able to get to know them personally throughout the planning process, made the entire experience even more amazing. They both fully trusted me in capturing their wedding day exactly the way they’d envisioned it, giving me free reign in creativity and even decided to do a first look together!!
Their ceremony took place in an intimate backyard wedding, at their home in Orillia after many months of re-landscaping everything; All of their hard work paid off because it was such a beautiful backdrop for their I Do’s!! They had bits of their personalities and relationship fused into the sweetest of details between the train inspired invitations (Jason works for the CP Railway) or surprising him with custom cufflinks all the way to the most amazing speech I’ve ever heard a bride give her groom – not only did she bring Jason to tears, but there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Laura did a phenomenal job planning and surprising her hubby-to-be multiple times on the day of; my favourite surprise though was secretly flying Jason’s Best Man, Josh, in the night before the wedding and having him arrive early morning on the wedding day. Jason had absolutely no idea that Josh had gotten the time off of work and that he had flown from Alberta and was even further unsuspecting while we pretended to test run the first look set up after breakfast. Needless to say, it set the tone perfectly for the rest of the day!
The first look they planned for in the early afternoon was tender, sweet and emotional as they shared in their private moment seeing each other for the first time. It also allowed us to do the bulk of the photography before the ceremony even started and allowed Laura + Jason to spend far more time together on their wedding day (almost the entire duration aside from getting ready) then if they’d done a traditional timeline, and that, I think, is a pretty important factor 😉
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Day <3
